First Flight Community Supported Agriculture

Come grow with us!

By subscribing to Green Peak Farm's 2009 "First Flight" Community Supported Agriculture, you become a member of our farm community, helping to support your farmer with an early season investment in the harvest throughout the entire season.  Your share is a subscription to a minumum of ten weeks of freshly-harvested, field washed vegetables and herbs, as well as access to a Make Your Own Bouquet Station set up during pickup time at the farm.  Your share also includes 2 separate pickups of 2 fresh, dressed roasting chickens raised naturally on pasture at the farm.  Each bird weighs approximately 3-4 pounds, and will be ready for either your oven or your freezer.

Why Community Supported Agriculture?

It's nutritious.  Your produce will be harvested the very same day you come to pick it up.  Truly fresh produce has more nutritional value, higher vitamin contents, and will never be sprayed, waxed, shrink-wrapped, or otherwise compromised in its ability to retain its healthfulness.  You should be more well-traveled than your lunchbox!

It's delicious.  Get hooked on freshly-harvested vegetables that have traveled as many miles as you have fingers on one hand, and you'll never turn back!  Conventional growers select varieties of produce for the consistency of its fruits' size, shape, and packability, ease of harvest, and resistance to bruising and other superficial traits.  At Green Peak Farm, we select for many unconventional traits, but the bottom line is always the quality of Taste.

It's yours.  Your investment is helping to keep the rural, agricultural traditions of Dorset and Manchester alive and well.  By supporting Green Peak Farm and other local growers, you are vitally linking yourself and your family to a wealth of communities: social, biological, gastronomical, economic, and educational.  Join us in preserving Vermont's rich agricultural heritage and joy of green spaces.  We'll share knowledge, recipes, first-quality produce, potluck parties, bright, sunny flower bouquets, and a weekly newsletter with updates on the farm and the week's harvest.  We'll also share a sustainable land ethic that ensures the long-term health of our region's natural communities for generations to come.

Community Supported Agriculture helps to develop the essential relationship between grower and consumer-- creating a small-scale system of accountability and investment in your neighbors to ensure the highest quality produce the season can offer.  Share sizes will vary from week to week, as Mother Nature sees fit, but we will generally be able to fill the weekly vegetable needs of an average family of 3-5.  Thank you, and Welcome to Green Peak Farm.

The program offers income eligible customers a 50% subsidy to help pay the cost of a CSA share with many CSA programs around the state. With the help of a Stratton Foundation Grant, the program is particularly targeting farms in the towns surrounding Stratton, VT. If you are interested in participating in the Vermont Farm Share Program as a customer, farm, or supporting member, please contact Jean at NOFA Vermont by calling 802-434-4122, or emailing jean@nofavt.org.  Contact Jean and let her know you're interested in signing up with Green Peak Farm!
